BEGINNER
SURVIVAL GUIDE.
You do not need a hoist. You just need a guided list and task oriented actions. Here is the blueprint to starting without the headache.
The 5 Golden Rules
Start Small & Singular
Begin with ONE project car. Learn basic tools, spanners, jacks, sockets. Do NOT rush into multiple projects; it is the fastest way to create a costly, unmanageable project.
Learn by Anatomy
Strip parts carefully to understand the soul of the machine. Take a lot of photos as you go. You WILL break something and may even have to purchase a good part - Congratulations!! that is the learning process.
The 30-40% Buffer Rule
Every project costs more than you think. Parts, unexpected repairs, and failed bolts add up. Add a 30-40% buffer to your initial budget or do not start.
Finish Before You Buy
Multiple unfinished cars multiply your financial drain. Cumulative costs compound faster than you realise. Sell the first one before you touch the second.
Verify the Paperwork
Never skip the PPSR/WOVR check. Some cars are physically fine but dead to be on road. If it cannot be registered, it is just a very expensive paperweight.
The All-In Budget
If you have $3,000, buy a $1,500 car. Use the rest for the hidden costs below.
